  • Extremely short welding impulse times enable high-quality welded joints on workpieces down to a material  thickness well below 0.2 mm (e.g. for orthodontic constructions) as well as in heat-sensitive areas (e.g. near acrylic and ceramic parts).

 

  • Due to the broad performance range of the PUK D5, it is also possible to produce stable welding connections on very solid parts such as bridges, bars or cast partial dentures.

 

  • The use of corresponding welding wires is recommended here.  

PUK’s operating principle is as simple as it is ingenious

  • As soon as the tip of the electrode on the welding handpiece touches the workpiece, the welding process starts automatically. An arc is lit precisely at this contact point under a protective atmosphere (argon), whereby the electrode is automatically drawn back into the handpiece approx. 1 mm and lifted from the workpiece surface in this way.  This enables welding points to be set with the desired intensity – consistently and with continuous repeatability.

 

  • It is possible to weld all metals and alloys that are generally suitable for TIG welding or lasering. These include e.g. cobalt chromium alloys, high-gold, palladium-based and other alloy groups, as well as titanium and stainless steel.

The operating concept of the PUK D5 combines the advantages of a modern touchscreen with the tried-and-true operation via a single rotary controller. Thus the intuitive and safe setting of the device is guaranteed at all times.

Correctly set the device in just two steps:

  • If you touch a button on the display for a longer period of time (approximately 2 seconds), a help window pops up in which the basic functions of the button are explained.
  • Then touch the help window briefly to switch back to the operating menu.

NEW: MICRO-WELDING

The application range of the PUK D5 is further expanded with material thickness down to less than 0.2 mm allowing the welding of wires and thin structures like orthodontic bands, for example, with even greater control.

 

NEW: IMPROVED SMOOTHING MODE

A significantly faster welding cycle enables an even more continuous work flow. With this setting, there is an opportunity to shape the material added as desired and to significantly improve the welding characteristics for highly thermally conductive dental alloys.

 

NEW: OPTIMIZED WELDING PARAMETERS
The result of the development work enabled an improvement in the welding parameters with newly defined recommended adjustment ranges for all common dental alloys.

The retention mode

 

  • Simple time-saving and material-saving welding of retention tacks (Ø 1.2, 1.3, 1,5 and 2 mm), for repairs, enhancements or new items.

 

  • In a fraction of a second an extremely string connection is formed by means of a special adapter, without any heat development of any consequence in the workpiece.

 

  • No re-welding and no re-working of the weld points or their surroundings are necessary. This enables model cast repairs or enhancements to be carried out significantly faster than with conventional techniques.

 

 

           

Automatic operation or foot switch

 

Using the foot switch can make work safer and easier when working on difficult workpiece geometries.

 

 

  • Activate the foot switch by pressing it down for 3 seconds. The auomatic function of the PUK is then deactivated.
  • The blue symbol top right on the display signals that foot switch operation is activated.

 

  • Welding is then only triggered when you press the foot switch.

Tack welding function

 

The tack welding mode – very simple and efficient method for fixing workpieces in order to subsequently weld or solder them. E.g. for a fixation weld of a cut bridge on the work model or in order to fasten wire and construction elements in place.

  • Using this process, two metal parts are bonded together at their contact point using resistance welding.

 

  • The parts can be "stuck" together so that they can then be finally attached using PUK welding or so that they can then be soldered.

 

  • The tack welding function is particularly well suited to processing metals with low electrical conductivity, e.g. stainless steel or titanium.

At home in dental laboratories

 

Developped for for a long service life and continuous operation:

  • Passively cooled
    The PUK does not need a ventilator or ventilation slots.

 

  • Dust-tight housing
    The PUK features a closed, tight housing. Thus none of the metal, polishing or abrasive dusts generated in the dental lab can enter the device. Damage or device errors caused by unavoidable deposits are avoided.

I have purchased a PUK five years ago to expand my TIG welding to micro level, and never regret for that. For me the PUK has become an inherent part not only in the workshop and for solving problems, I include it in the design process. Yes, it shapes my design to a certain degree. 

 

From the failed attempt to hide welding spots in order to achieve invisible connections emerged the subversive intention to handle the connection spots as obviously as possible. A design idea came into existence that turns the welding spots into my main design feature and orchestrates them like little diamonds. I see that precision technology like Lampert’s spot welding device can - aside from the regular range of applications - produce a high aesthetic value. I want my jewelry to reflect that.

My expectations for the PUK U5+ were very high and were met all along the line. Working with the PUK U5+ is very simple and uncomplicated.

 

An artist carefully compiles his tools because he uses them to express his thoughts and ideas through his hands. The high expectations of yourself must also be placed on the tools. That is why I only work with professional tools and machines.

For the production of my kinetic solar sculptures I prefer to use round steel rods up to 4 mm and sheets up to 1 mm thick. In the past years I have tried many techniques to optimally combine these materials. I have already used some processes, such as TIG welding, brazing with hydrogen, spot welding or soft soldering. None of these connection techniques met my high standards.

One day I became aware of the PUK U5+ welding system from Lampert, which I had never seen before. The first-class technical support from the Lampert company was able to advise me "on point" what the possibilities of the PUK U5+ are.

My expectations for the PUK U5+ were very high. But these were met all along the line. Working with the PUK U5+ is very simple and uncomplicated. It feels like holding a thick pencil in your hand, easy to handle, safe and accurate.

I usually only rave about Swiss made machines. But I with pleasure took the PUK U5+ from Lampert, made in Germany, in my train of machines.

Working with PUK 2 since 2006.

 

My favorite cocktail is; PUK, argon and titanium.

If I didn't have the PUK I wouldn't have been able to make some of my best titanium pieces.

I bought my PUK2 in 2006, right at the time I opened my own workshop: www.josemarin.net.

 

At first, I used it in the creation of gold and platinum jewellery and in these three directions:

  1. Repairing delicate pieces with precious stones which cannot be subjected to fire, this allows me to intervene on the jewels without dismantling the stones.
  2. Pre-assembly of complex parts that I must later weld with a port of soldering and the aid of the torch.
  3. Creation of impossible pieces. For example, mounting a platinum band with diamonds passing over an emerald, this would be unthinkable by the traditional method of fire welding.

 

At present it is my great help for the creation of my pieces of titanium and Timascus, so far I have managed to do everything I set out to do.

 

I must admit that my PUK2 is a very old version, with limitations for silver and bronze, but otherwise it is a perfect machine and very resistant, in 14 years I have not had any breakdowns.

As my brother and me started our own business, the PUK 5 was our first purchase along with two workbenches. We both had very good experience with the PUK 2 and PUK 04 and therefore knew that this wonderful device would become indispensable for us.

 

The PUK can be summarized in one sentence: "easy to learn and hard to master". Anyone could tack weld and joint parts after a few minutes. But the incredibly diverse possible field of application arises over the time and growing experience. Due to the very well calibrated default settings that the PUK 5 comes with, you can take countless challenges directly. With the experience at what angle, from what side and with which setting the respective welds work best, the joints are getting cleaner.

 

We work with the welder every day and the results are impressive and yet we have the feeling that we have not yet exhausted the "PUK potential".

I am a perfectionist and I try to build my radio-controlled construction models to the highest quality and detail. I was looking for a device that can actually allow me to achieve this goal. Previously I was not able to work with steel or stainless steel, and because of the fine detail and precision work I was not able to weld with a normal TIG welder. I was recommended by a mate of mine who saw a demonstration of the PUK welder at an expo. I contacted LAMPERT, explained situation and they advised me the exact equipment I needed. Early 2017 I purchased the M200 which was shipped to Australia. LAMPERT guided me in the initial stages via Skype support how to use the machine. This was very clear and now after almost 3 years of use I cannot do without it. The amount of precision and welding size exactly replicates the scale and strength needed for my models. I am now able to work with various materials and stainless steel is my favorite. I highly recommend this machine to any serious and professional model builder.
