Welding sleeves over palatal implants
with expansion screw
(e.g. hyrax® (hygienic rapid expansion) from Dentaurum)
The sleeves used here are made of stainless steel and can therefore be easily welded to the expansion screw. This requires that the arms of the screw enclose the sleeves as well as possible and without any gaps. This is the only way to avoid unnecessary stresses in the construction which could have a negative effect on the functionality of the apparatus.
The wall thickness of these sleeves is so strong that no damage can occur during welding. The welding parameters can therefore be set significantly higher than for welding on bands, for example, but should not be set higher than absolutely necessary: Welding with excessive energy input means unnecessary stress in the material and generally carries the risk of distortion!
Tip: If the individual spot welds are placed as close as possible
to each other, i.e. strongly overlapping, the careful execution of the welds results in relatively smooth weld beads that can be polished to a high gloss directly with the usual means without further machining.

Care should be taken to ensure good contact between the components and a mix of materials should be avoided.
