Special applications of precision welding

Precision welding of thin materials opens up completely new possibilities in joining technology. It is therefore frequently used in special applications in development, prototyping, aerospace and racing, as well as in the repair of valuable parts in series production.

Many of our customers’ applications are sensitive and confidential and therefore cannot be shown with images or videos. Nevertheless, we are continuously expanding our overview. You are welcome to check directly with us whether your special applications can be welded with our micro TIG welding machines and get in touch with our experts.

Medical technology - welding surgical instruments

Surgical instruments and tools (known as surgical instruments) are almost exclusively made of stainless steel, titanium or tantalum. Individual parts are therefore often welded when joining in the production or repair of such instruments. The Lampert welding process is ideal for welding surgical instruments and tools due to its high precision and low heat-affected zone. The welding process is also suitable for the permanent fixation of multi-part implants made of stainless steel or titanium, for example by welding bolts or screws.

Colibri forceps are used to fix the eyeball during an operation in order to avoid irregularities in surgical incisions caused by muscular twitching of the eyeball. This is why maximum precision is required both when joining the two halves of the forceps and when inserting the spacers. We show how this is achieved with micro TIG welding technology.

A raspatory is used in surgery to scrape soft tissue and tissue from the bone. This tool must therefore be robust and reliable. The handle can be easily welded to the raspatory using a micro TIG welder. This guarantees a permanent connection. The weld seam also requires only minimal reworking, which means that medical requirements for the surface (gap-free transition, sterility, reliable cleaning, etc.) are also perfectly met.

Repairs of otherwise irreparable defects

Many defects turn out to be irreparable at first glance. This is particularly the case when material has been removed due to damage or wear and tear, which can hardly be permanently restored using known methods and/or the costs are not in proportion to the value of the object or product. Lampert micro TIG welding technology enables fast, cost-effective and permanently durable repairs, which in many cases can also be carried out by people without welding experience.

Ski edge repair

Every professional and passionate amateur skier knows the situation: you have finally found a suitable ski and, in a brief moment of carelessness or simply through bad luck, you damage the metal edge on a stone or other obstacle. Whereas in the past this usually required the purchase of a new ski, Lampert micro TIG welding technology can easily repair defects in the edge and restore it so that the ski can continue to be used without restrictions or compromises.
